After declaring Russian President Vladimir Putin as his friend, along with several other freedom fighters, as his prastavaks (introducers) in his nomination papers, the Sub- District Magistrate has cancelled Vinod Pawar’s nomination papers for the Noida assembly seat where he was going to contest election against Rajnath Singh’s son Pankaj Singh.

“I will file a case against all the people who have cancelled my nomination papers in the Court of law”, Vinod told the TenNews in an exclusive interview.

“When I have some great people to name as prastavaks, why should I name local residents,” he questioned.

Pawar is a graduate in chemistry and lives in Amrapali Royal in Indirapuram. He runs a coaching centre in Noida’s Sector 50.

In the affidavit submitted to the returning officer, Pawar claimed that the Russian president was one of his best friend.

He has named Swami Vivekananda, Martin Luther King Junior, B R Ambedkar, APJ Abdul Kalam, Nelson Mandela, Subhash Chandra Bose, Gautam Buddha, Abraham Lincoln and others as ‘prastavaks’.

A candidate needs signatures of 10 ‘prastavaks’ on the affidavit and they must also be voters in the same constituency where the candidate is going to contest.

The Sub-district magistrate Gautam Buddh Nagar Amit Kumar Singh who is also an election officer said on Friday that the Election Commission will take strict action against him.

“We will take strict action against him so that afterwards no one will do it again,” said SDM Amit Singh.

The political journey of the candidate, Vinod Pawar, was, however, cut short with the cancellation of his candidature for not providing substantial information.

Pawar was one of the 28 candidates in Gautam Budh Nagar whose nominations were cancelled.
