One and Half Years of Alok Tandon: Paving way for greener, cleaner and better Noida

Noida (14/03/2019) : Noida Authority CEO Alok Tandon has completed about one and half years serving on this much reputed post and his key initiatives as well as non-tolerance for corruption has worked well for changing the image of once-tainted Noida Authority.

An authority which was primarily known for being the den of corruption so much so that the government in Lucknow was said to be funded and micro-managed from Noida, has now become the flag bearer of innovations and public friendly administration.

From winning the best public transport award for NMRC bus service to getting new routes of NMRC running, Alok Tandon has also worked exceptionally well in receiving the NMRC as its MD.



In September 2017 he had taken charge of the Noida authority as it’s CEO and also MD of NMRC.

He was one of the 9 IAS officials whom Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wanted to get back to state from Central deputation.

An electrical engineer by academic qualification, he had then listed eradicating corruption and blending technology for resolution of Noida issues as his motos.

His one and half year of tenure witnessed the LED replacement on expressway street lights, self compost machine subsidy schemes for sectors, completion of underpass, boost to ongoing projects and much more.

In November 2017 the DMRC completed viaduct on Noida-Greater Noida corridor. The last girder of the Noida-Greater Noida corridor in the presence of DMRC managing director Mangu Singh, Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) MD and Noida Authority CEO Alok Tandon. The DMRC also entered the Limca Book of Records with this feat.

In the same year the Noida Authority also launched the make-compost-from-waste scheme, under which it offered to pay 75 per cent of the cost of the machine required to do the job. The subsidy was later increased to 95 percent with the help of CSR funds.

In January 2018, Alok Tandon took strict action on corruption complaint and had suspended project engineer BK Singh for alleged financial irregularities to the tune of ₹25 crore in the advertising department.
Prior to his suspension Singh, had headed the advertisement department for the last five years.

In March end last year, Alok Tandon was also given the additional charge of the Greater Noida authority after its the then CEO Debasish Panda was transferred. During that period he would then dedicate two days of the week to Greater Noida authority.
He held the additional charge for few months, till the appointment of incumbent CEO Narendra Bhushan.

In October 2018, the underpass, located on the crossing of Noida’s sectors 25A, 24, 33A and 22 got artistic makeover in order to educate the public about their art heritage.

The technology revamped has continued even now and is going on since then. Recently in January 2019, A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the NOIDA Authority and IT firms Candor Techspace and Junckit Systems LLP for deployment of Adaptive Traffic Signal System. As part of this initiative, to save people’s time and decongest roads in Noida, authorities in the city will install a system which will swap traffic lights on the basis of real-time data at any intersection.
