Sardar Kulwant Singh Chadha Skills Academy’ Partners with ‘Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana’ (PMKVY 2.0)

‘Sardar Kulwant Singh Chadha Skills development Academy’, an initiative of ‘The Ponty Chadha Foundation’, has been affiliated withPMKVY 2.0 and have become their official training partners. The academy is now a part of the Government of India’s ‘Skill India’ Program. The academy has received affiliations from Security Sector Skill Development Council (SSSDC), National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC), and Uttar Pradesh Private Security Act Regulatory Authority (UPPSARA) too for training and skilling the youth.

The institute has tied up with the best companies in the industry for suitable employment opportunities, providing 100% placement to the trainees. The academy also has on board Group 4 Secure Solutions (G4s) as the private placement player among many others.

The academy strives to mobilize underprivileged and unemployed youth from areas of Eastern U.P., the tribal areas of M.P., Uttarakhand & Jharkhand and train them for functional duties like car parking, biometric process, fire-fighting, emergency evacuation, basic life support, office security guards, operating electronic security devices like CCTV, etc.

Commenting on the development, Mr. Manpreet Singh Chadha, Vice-Chairman, Wave Group, said “We are glad that we are able to contribute towards the Government of India’s Skill India Mandate. Skilling youth is the need of the hour and equipping them with adequate skills helps them in channelizing their energy towards the right direction. With the mission to boost the hidden potential of rural youth, the skills academy works to hone them with requisite skills and provide them with suitable employment. We can proudly say that we have placed more than 500 youth at various organizations in a short span of time. The aim of our foundation has always been to channelize our capabilities towards social and economic development of the society.”

With PMKVY affiliation, the institute adheres to the central or state assigned targets for training the candidates. However, there are no third parties trainings at the institute. Center accreditation is a quality assurance process where training centers are evaluated. Accreditation focuses on learning, self-development and encourages the training center to pursue continual excellence.

On the development, Mr. Manjir Ghosh, CEO, PCF/Head CSR Wave Group said, “Center Accreditation is a quality assurance process that ensures that the trainees are provided quality training. The government’s accreditation has given us encouragement and motivation to create a platform for more and more number of people to get the adequate skills and suitable employment.  In near future, the institution is likely to include training in hospitality and real estate sector.”

The duration of training is as per prescribed norms laid down by National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) and/or the Modular Employability Skills (MES) of the Directorate General of Employment and Training, Ministry of Labour, Government of India or as prescribed by the sector skills councils of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).  While the curriculum includes technical aspects, soft skills and basic computer literacy, the methodology encompasses lectures, group work, peer learning, learning through audio-visual aids, practical sessions, role pays and on the job training.

The academy has been developed on six acres of land with residential accommodation, mess, kitchen, washrooms; training/lecture rooms, Labs/simulation rooms, and administrative block, store and open areas.
