Two-way ties in Defence, Trade, FDI, Tourism and Education bind India ànd USA firmly

During the visit of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and East-West Center unveil a report titled ‘India Matters for America / America Matters for India in Washington today highlighting important facts and figures on the bilateral relations between India and the United States of America.

 

There are now over 50 bilateral dialogue mechanisms between the two governments on topics ranging from defense and trade to energy, education, health, space, and science. A turning point was the India-United States Civil Nuclear Agreement (123 Deal), in which India separated its civil and military nuclear facilities and opened its civil facilities to international safeguards in exchange for US civil nuclear cooperation.

 

Commenting on the FICCI-East West Center Study launch during the visit of  the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to the US, Mr. Pankaj Patel, President, FICCI said The study clearly brings out the multi-faceted relationship between India and the US and which has only been strengthening with time. Be it trade, investments, tourism, student exchanges or engagement in strategic sectors like defense, India and the US have continued to contribute a lot to each other’s economy.
