Intelligence refers to the power to analyze things in their proper perspective, and knowledge refers to understanding what spirit is and what is matter.”- Lord Krishna The faculty and students of Birla Institute of Management celebrated Janmashtami with much fan and fare on 26th August at the Greater Noida campus. The function started with the traditional event of Matki Phod, which represents the childhood legend of Lord Krishna. This event in a form of competition was won by the second year students of Insurance Business Management.In the evening after a small puja at the campus temple, the festivities began by welcoming Manoj Krishna Brijwasi and his troupes of the “Braj Leela Sansthan”, Mathura. Manoj Krishna has been awarded with Braj Vibhuti award, 2012 and Braj Gaurav Samman, 2016. Brij Lal Sansthan has been an active part of the Incredible India campaign and has performed at various event in India and abroad. They began by the traditional bhajan “badi der bhai nand lala” which signifies a call to lord Krishna. This was followed by Ganesh Vandana. The traditional braj bhajan “Shringar Jhanki“ was next in queue where even the students and faculty couldn’t stop themselves and joined the dancers. The dance troupe then mesmerized the audience by the “Mayur dance” depicting Krishna and Radha love story. There was another classical dance by the group on a semi fusion song. But the highlight of the day was the faculty and students joining each other in playing dandiya. There was perfect culmination of the traditional music, the voice of Manoj Krishna Brijwasi and the sound of dandiya sticks which made the atmosphere here euphoric. This was followed by the midnight puja to celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna. People raised their hand and welcomed Lord Krishan by singing “Hare Rama Hare Krishna” and thus ending the celebration of a long and eventful day.BIMTECH, although being a business school, has always celebrated events and occasions of all sorts to foster unity and develop bonds among students, who come from diverse backgrounds. Thus despite modernism, it tries to inculcate among its students – the respect for their history and traditions.
