After No Helmet’ ‘No Fuel ‘ state government imposes 1000 rs fine on not wearing helmet

Greater Noida: Now riding a two-wheeler without wearing a helmet will attract a hefty fine of Rs 1,000 in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. The state cabinet has decided to increase the fine for offenders caught breaking this crucial rule in Uttar Pradesh. The move is expected to deter people from not wearing a helmet while riding a two-wheeler.

The decision to increase the fine for not wearing a helmet while riding a two-wheeler was taken by the state cabinet during a meeting held on Tuesday chaired by the Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath. First-time violation would attract a fine of Rs 500 while second-time violation would cost Rs 1,000. The state cabinet passed the proposal aiming to boost the safety of bikes riders, as not wearing a helmet are a major reason for head injuries reported in fatal road accidents.

In another directive, talking on the phone or using earphones while driving will also attract a penalty of Rs 1,000. In the past, several measures taken to enforce the law for the rider and pillion to wear helmets while riding two-wheelers have not succeeded completely. With increasing the fine, the authorities aim to strictly enforce this important traffic safety rule.

From June 1 district administration Gautam Budh Nagar also had made it mandatory to wear helmet for getting fuel at fuel stations by initiating ‘No Helmet’ ‘No Fuel ‘ drive.
