Greater Noida gets ultimatum over waste segregation and pollution control, measures to be taken within time frame

Greater Noida (13/06/2019) : Today Justice Devi Prasad Singh, Chairman Eastern UP River & Water Reservoirs Monitoring Committee & UP Solid waste Management Monitoring Committee ordered Greater Noida Authority officials to take some Major steps to curb the pollution in the city and Proper disposal of all kinds of waste.

Justice Devi Prasad Singh is on a visit of different developmental authorities in Uttar Pradesh.This is the first time that a Justice is doing a visit and conducting inspections. After the meeting with the authority officials, Devi Prasad Singh also interacted with media and detailed about his observations and irregularities he found in the system.



He told that “The situation of medical facility in the city is very bad and hospitals are not following the environment norms. the way the medial waste is getting disposed of is very hazardous.” He told that yesterday he was in Noida and sought CMO about the facilities over which CMO assured him of everything is going as per the guidelines. But when he himself went on a reality check, he found hospitals full of irregularities. The waste was not getting segregated and dumped in open bins which results infections and also increasing the rate of hospital generated disease. After which he will be also writing to the government recommending actions against the CMO.”

Segregation of waste will be done into three categories Solid waste, Liquid waste, and Plastic waste. All the house and the market area will be equipped with three kinds of dustbins and the collected waste will also be disposed of separately and this is to be done by 31 July. After that, no waste should be seen laying on the roads in open otherwise once again authority will be panelized. As for your information in April, this year committee has imposed a fine of 2 crores on GNIDA for dumping waste in a land that lies under the Green belt area.

But now the authority is planning to construct a park on the same land. Waste material from the plot will be disposed of by scientific manner, for which authority will also be floating a tender in a couple of days for purchasing the machine that will be used for disposal of waste. Commenting on the present situation he said “In past officials, mistakes have turned Greater Noida Hazardous for its residents but now we have to corrective steps so our future generations don’t have to suffer. “

Action will also be taken against the private companies are not treating their waste properly “During my visit, I found effluents are being discharged in drains and rivers without getting treated to save electricity in STP.”

He also directed UP irrigation department to define the Hindon flood plain areas and a report over the illegal construction is done in the flood region so that they can get demolished and the responsible agencies can act on it. He also bounded all the work directed by him in a time frame which is needed to be completed within it.
