Noida gets Spinning Wheel made of Plastic waste ahead of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

Noida, 1st Oct: Union Minister Smriti Irani inaugurated the plastic waste charkha made by Noida Authority on the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Dr. Mahesh, MP, Gautam Budh Nagar Sharma, Pankaj Singh, MLA, Noida and Ritu Maheshwari, CEO, Noida Authority were also present on the occasion. The 1650 kg plastic waste charkha has been built in Sector 94, Noida.
The Noida Authority has claimed that it is the world’s largest plastic waste charkha. For this, the authority has applied in India Book of Records, Asia Book of Records, Guinness Book of Records.
After inaugurating the charkha, the union minister inaugurated a pink toilet in sector 39 which is only for women and from their she left for Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra where she initiated a drive under which Noida Apparel Export Cluster will be distributing 1 lakh cloth-made bags in the city for free of cost. For which, she also praised Lalit Thukral president NAEC.
Speaking at the event she took a jib over previous governments and said “Future generation will ask why it took 70 years for such initiative to start.”
Responding to the request of CEO Noida Authority she assured that her ministry will provide every possible help to Noida to develop as a fashion hub.
Mahesh Sharma speaking at the event praised the efforts of Smirti Irani and also urged all the RWA’s and other social organisation to make their efforts in making Noida free of plastic. At last referring to CEO Noida Authority he said “Some times i know she (CEO) take tough actions but for queering a disease it a requires bitter medicines. But i would like to urge her, also keep your image clean in public eyes so that no one can question you.
The Spinning Wheel is made from 1250 kg polythene seized in Noida on the instructions of the Noida Authority. Ghaziabad artists Sarfaraz Ali and Sakshi Jha prepared the Spinning Wheel through acrylic in 20 days. Plastic spoon, cold drink straw have also been used to make it.
The height of Spinning Wheel is 14 fit, length is 20 fit and width is 8 fit. A traffic island has also been built at this place. The specialty of this spinning wheel is that it moves completely.
