Noida, 20th September, 2022: On Monday morning, a 47-year-old man died after falling in front of a moving Metro train at Noida’s Golf Course Metro station. Police assumed the case as suicide, but the deceased man’s wife told officers that he slipped and fell in front of the moving train.

According to authorities, the event occurred at 8.50 a.m. while the deceased and his wife were on their way to Jhajjar in Haryana. The dead has been identified as Rajesh, a Jhajjar native, by police. He was living in rented housing in Greater Noida’s Surajpur region and working as a supervisor in a tyre plant in Surajpur.

“Around 8.50 a.m., police received information regarding the incident. A police squad from Sector 39 was dispatched to the scene, and the body was transported for a post-mortem examination.

During the preliminary investigation, it was discovered that Rajesh had arrived at the Metro station with his wife and was on his way to their home in Jhajjar. According to witnesses, he abruptly jumped in front of the Metro,” stated Rajneesh Verma, assistant commissioner of police (Noida 1).

Police are investigating whether the man committed suicide or not. The victim’s wife told authorities that they were returning to Haryana for a few days. “The woman said Rajesh went to see if the train was approaching the platform or not.” She also stated that his foot slipped and he fell in front of the approaching train.

“We are analysing the station’s CCTV footage to see if the couple argued or fought before the deceased took the drastic step,” said a senior officer at Sector 39 police station. Police stated that they are yet to file a case on the matter.

“Following the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the deceased’s family members. “As of yet, we have not got any formal complaints in this case,” ACP Verma stated.
