Notion CEO Ivan Zhao calls India One of the Most Important Regions, claims Hyderabad only Office Outside US

Hyderabad (Telangana), 25th April 2023: India is one of the company’s most important geographic areas, according to Ivan Zhao, CEO and co-founder of the productivity and note-taking web application Notion.

Hyderabad is the company’s only technical facility outside of the United States. Zhao, who was in Hyderabad to plan their city’s expansion, claimed that almost 80% of their clients were from countries other than the US.

He said, “Notion is a very international company. India is one of our most important regions and Hyderabad is our only engineering office outside the US. And that’s why I am here. We are expanding this office. We will figure out a strategy, what’s the next roadmap for this office.”

Zhao was born in China and later immigrated to Canada. He earned a degree in Cognitive Science from the University of British Columbia. Zhao worked for an education publishing start-up named Inkling before starting Notion in 2013.

Notion suddenly appeared on the scene during the Covid epidemic, when users were drawn to its clean aesthetic and versatility for taking notes, building knowledge bases, and working together in the workspace.

Currently, 50% of all Fortune 500 companies are clients of Notion. To this Zhao said, “We want that to be 100 percent… We want it to be used everywhere, by every kind of business.”
