Ek Jeevan Hamari Prerana Inspires Future Women Leaders to Embrace Health on Day of the Girl

New Delhi, October 6, 2024: Ek Jeevan Hamari Prerana organized a special event at Children’s Park, India Gate, to commemorate International Day of the Girl (IDG) 2024. Supported by AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), the event created a platform for girls to thrive, lead, and reach their full potential through a variety of engaging activities. Additionally, an awareness session on mental health was conducted to motivate and empower girls, fostering a supportive environment for their overall well-being. Since International Day of the Girl Child falls on October 11th, which coincides with the Dussehra festival in India and to ensure maximum participation, the event was rescheduled to October 6th. The event brought together 130 girls and young women from marginalized groups, along with 25 women caretakers, 20 parents, and 10 volunteers.
Notable participants included a team from the Ministry of Defence, representatives from Mitramela NGO, the Parikrama rock band, and officials from Children’s Park authorities. Collectively, they helped create unforgettable moments for the children. The Chief Guest, Smt. Swati Khanna, a renowned activist for Women Empowerment, highlighted the pressing challenges of mental health during adolescence. She emphasized that hormonal fluctuations and stress can lead to depression and anxiety in children, making it crucial for them to open up about their struggles. Smt. Khanna urged the children to share their problems with their family members, fostering a supportive environment for their emotional well-being.
Laughter filled the air as participants engaged in a playful battle of wits, tackling humorous questions that sparked giggles and showcased their creative thinking. The lively competition concluded with prizes and complimentary gifts being distributed to both the winning group and other participants. Each recipient received a delightful, exciting gifts. Every girl was gifted a specially designed sling bag, thoughtfully filled with educational and hygiene items. Each bag contained a notebook, a pen, and three packets of sanitary napkins, addressing a crucial aspect of their reproductive health and empowering them to prioritize self-care.” Parikrama, one of Asia’s most iconic rock bands, teamed up with a dynamic DJ to create an electrifying atmosphere. They played a curated selection of upbeat tracks
that encouraged the girls to let loose and showcase their best dance moves. The infectious energy of the music sparked a joyful celebration, allowing the girls tounleash their creativity and freedom.
