Tamil Nadu, 29th June 2023: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said on Thursday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is afraid, following the Patna opposition meeting called by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and that is why the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is attempting to exploit communal issues in order to retain power in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Stalin was speaking at the wedding of a party member in Chennai, where he encouraged people to vote for a secular party to form the Union government in 2024.

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) head blasted the Centre and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their poor handling of the ongoing Manipur crisis.

Stalin lambasted the ruling BJP’s handling of the law and order situation in the northeastern state, citing the violence that has left at least 115 people dead and more than 40,000 displaced.

Stalin stated that Manipur has been burning for 50 days, but the prime minister has yet to visit the state. He further added that it was after 50 days of violence that Union Home Minister Amit Shah convened an all-party meeting to address the situation.

Stalin said, “This is how the BJP-led state and central government functions.”

He also criticised Prime Minister Modi’s push for the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) during his first public meeting after returning from the United States.

In a speech to BJP workers in Bhopal on Tuesday, Modi made a strong case for a UCC, claiming that the Constitution guarantees equal rights to all citizens.

He also brought up triple talaq, Pasmanda Muslim prejudice, and the opposition’s Patna unity meeting. While making a strong case for UCC, Prime Minister Modi had stated on Tuesday that India cannot operate under “two laws” when the Indian Constitution calls for equality for all.

To this Stalin replied, “Modi said that UCC will be implemented and there cannot be two different laws in the country. He believes he can win again by giving rise to communal issues and creating confusion in the country. I am sure, people are ready to teach a lesson to the BJP in the upcoming parliamentary elections.”
