Noida, 23rd April: To discuss the deteriorating Covid situation in the state, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a virtual meeting today with the District Magistrates of 10 districts in the state, including Meerut, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Bareilly, Ghaziabad, Moradabad, Ballia, Jaunpur, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghazipur.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister urged all the District Magistrates to coordinate with the Ministers in-charge and the people’s representatives and resolve the challenges being faced by the common people including shortage of oxygen, beds and medicines.

To tackle the shortage of oxygen, the chief minister suggested the DMs to set up an oxygen plant in their respective district.

He further instructed the DMs to update the information regarding the availability of empty beds in each Covid Hospital on a daily basis. “The updated information of empty beds should be made public as per rules. It should be ensured that not a single patient is disturbed in the absence of beds,” he said.

On combating black marketing of Remedesivir, he said that the black marketing of Remedesivir and other life-saving drugs should be dealt with on priority. Rumors should be prevented from spreading. Action should be taken against the mischievous elements who spread the rumor.

Speaking about the importance of testing and urging the DMs to increase testing, the chief minister said that the mantra of Test, Trace and Treat is very important in the fight against Covid. “Testing should be increased in all the districts. Quality testing should be ensured. Testing should also be done by private labs. But there should be no compromise regarding quality.”

The Chief Minister further instructed the DMs to monitor the patients who are undergoing treatment in home isolation and ensure that adequate medical kit is made available to them. “Everyday communication should be made with such patients,” he added.

On Friday, the state reported highest single-day spike of 37,238 Covid-19 cases along with 196 deaths.
