DELHI BJP WELCOMES WELFARE AND DEVELOPMENT ORIENTED BUDGET

Delhi BJP President Shri Satish Upadhyay has welcomed the Budget for Delhi (presently under President Rule) presented by the Central Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley in the Parliament and has said that this Budget is meant for welfare of all and development oriented. This budget has taken special care of four major problems of Delhi i.e. power, water, unauthorized colonies and security of women besides health, education and transport. Pradesh President Shri Satish Upadhyay said that this Budget of 36,766 crores rupees will provide relief in all the sectors because there is no proposal for any new tax.

 

This Budget proposes relief to the lower and middle income group people suffering from the burden hefty power bills which is in the form of rebate in the slab of 200 and 400 units of consumption. Provision has been made of 260 crore rupees for this purpose by the Government. There is also allocation of 200 crore rupees for power sector and 500 crore rupees for the improvement in water supply system.

 

Reasonable efforts have been made in this Budget to solve the problem of shortage of power and the burden of hefty power bills. There is a provision for constructing new substations at Harsh Vihar & Piragarhi for Delhi Transco and proposal to add new substations at Pappan Kalan, Rajghat and Tughlakabad Power House of 220 kv each. The Budget also proposes to make the NDMC area a solar city under the Solar City Development Scheme of Central Government.

 

The Government has taken the development of unauthorized colonies of Delhi as a big challenge and has decided that development works in these colonies be implemented in a time bound manner. Water supply lines shall be laid in 50 unauthorized colonies in a phased manner and sewer lines in 95 unauthorized colonies and provision for Rs. 711 crore rupees has been made in this regard. Public toilets shall be developed in all the slum clusters of Delhi and improvement of the existing public toilets.

 

For the purpose of providing relief to the women suffering harassment special provision shall be made in DDU Hospital, GTB Hospital and Sanjay Gandhi Hospital. This year 155 women sub-inspectors and 1434 Women Constable shall be recruited under Delhi Police.

 

He further said that in order to provide special relief to the people of Delhi suffering from the burden of costly education, twenty new schools shall be opened in Delhi for which provision of Rs.350 crore rupees has been made in the Budget. There is also proposal for opening two new special schools for the students. School of Planning and Architecture under the IPGGS University will be opened at the cost of Rs. 285 crores for the people of East Delhi. Provision of Rs. 151 crore rupees has been made for new buildings of the present DDU College in Dwarka and the renovation of Sahid Sukhdev College in Rohini is going on. Provision has been made for Rs. 158 crores for establishing National Institute of Technology on 51 acre land in Narela.

 

For realizing the dreams of Mahatma Gandhi and Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay, allocation of Rs. 1862 crore rupees has been made for providing social security to the poor sections of society. This year 38 lakh people of Delhi shall be brought under the food security scheme.

 

 

Old age pension was not being provided in Delhi for the last one and a half year. This pension for the benefit of 3,90,000 will be started soon and the applications of about 40,000 senior citizens pending for many years will be scrutinized and approved soon. There is also provision for setting up seven new night shelters. Efforts shall be made for expediting the constructing houses for economically weaker section of the society and the Government and plans to provide houses to about 58,000 such people.

 

On the one hand a new Medical College will be started in Rohini this year and on the other hand a new Super Specialty Hospital will be opened in South Delhi. The Budget also provides for 110 new Ambulances and 50 new dialysis centers.

 

50 crore rupees have been allocated for the completion of Renuka Dam which will help in solving the water supply problems of the people of Delhi. This Budget also provides 750 crore rupees for improving the sewer system in Delhi.

 

Shri Upadhyay further said that in order to strengthen the Public Transport System in Delhi, 1380 semi-low floor buses shall be included in the fleet of DTC. New terminal buildings are proposed for Sarai Kalekhan and Anand Vihar ISBT in order to improve their condition.
