Losing Rs 5cr business daily: Sec 18 traders

The lengthy makeover of the Sector 18 market is robbing traders of daily business to the tune of Rs 5 crore, complains the local businessmen’s association.

There are about 500 shops in the market and the revamp, which the association alleges is “mismanaged” and “hamstrung by delays”, is leading to an average daily business loss of over Rs 1 lakh per shop, it claims.

“The usual rush of customers is so much that it becomes difficult to cater. The collections of most shops are between Rs 2 and 3 lakh per day,” said SK Jain, president of the Sector 18 market association.
