Delhi World Public School: Insights from Principal Dr. Heema Sharma

GREATER NOIDA, 21 DECEMBER 2024: Ten News Network visited Delhi World Public School (DWPS), Greater Noida, and spoke with Principal Dr. Heema Sharma about the school’s journey, its educational approach, challenges, and aspirations.
DWPS was established in 2016 and has completed eight years since its inception. Speaking about the school’s educational philosophy, Dr. Sharma emphasized the importance of holistic development in children aged 4 to 16. “Education must address a child’s social, physical, and mental development. A well-designed curriculum is critical to achieving this,” she said.
One of the key challenges highlighted by Dr. Sharma is catering to the diverse learning needs of students. “We adapt our teaching methods to suit different learning styles. For students who require extra support, we design specific activities to help them progress,” she explained. Another focus area is communication skills, where the school encourages students to express themselves confidently.
Dr. Sharma also spoke about the school’s initiatives to prepare students for competitive exams through collaborations with organizations like Aakash. “By the time students graduate, we aim to ensure they are well-prepared for their future academic and career pursuits,” she noted.
The implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has been another significant step for DWPS. Dr. Sharma explained how the school aligns with the NEP’s framework by focusing on life skills, critical thinking, and innovation. Students are introduced to robotics and 3D printing to encourage hands-on learning and creativity.
Discussing the school’s future plans, Dr. Sharma shared her vision of expanding the student body and focusing on practical knowledge and innovative teaching. “We aim to prepare students to excel in real-world scenarios, with a projected growth to 3,500–4,000 students in the coming years,” she said.
Reflecting on her career, which began in 1996, Dr. Sharma discussed her experiences in training principals, students, and teachers through numerous CBSE workshops. She also shared her personal journey of overcoming health challenges with a positive outlook. “With determination and support, obstacles can be overcome,” she said.
Dr. Sharma expressed her gratitude to the school’s leadership team for their trust and support, acknowledging their role in the school’s progress.
