Express orders from CEO Yamuna Authority to install rumble strips on Expressway

Greater Noida: Today Dr Arun Veer Singh CEO Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority ordered the work of installing rumble strips and signboards l at Zero Point of Yamuna Expressway.
He ordered this new safety measures, concerning a recent major road mishap, happened at Zero Point on Expressway claiming 4 lives. On August 18 an SUV toppled from the expressway and fell 30 feet on the ground.
Rumble strips, also known as sleeper lines, are a road safety feature to alert inattentive drivers of potential danger, by causing a tactile vibration and audible rumbling transmitted through the wheels into the vehicle interior.
Arun Veer Singh told that “Toady members of Active Citizen Team approached me with the demand to install Rumble strips and Signboards in view of the increasing rate of accident on the expressway. So immediately I ordered to concern officials to start work.”
Further, he told “In a study conducted by IIT Delhi over speeding emerged as one of the major reasons behind the accident. So to curb overspeeding I also ordered to install speed booth at entry and exit points of the expressway so that speed of the vehicles commuting on the E-way will be monitored. We already had started issuing fine to such vehicles which are covering 165km distance before a certain time limit that is got fixed as the minimum time for a vehicle crossing the E-way.
Earlier also, on July 8 bus accident on Yamuna Expressway had left 29 persons dead. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had asked officials to prepare and implement a new plan to ensure safety on the Yamuna and Lucknow-Agra Expressways
