New Delhi: After speculations and presumptions on Baijayant Jay Panda’s political course of action were put to rest today after the former Parliamentarian joined Bharatiya Janata Party in New Delhi.
Panda joined the BJP in presence of Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram, Odisha BJP state president Basant Panda and other senior leaders of the saffron party.
Jay Panda has been a party stalwart and associated with BJD ever since its formation in 1997. Baijayant Jay Panda, MP from Odisha’s Kendrapara had quit the party in May 2018 writing to Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik” It’s with deep anguish, hurt and sorrow that I have decided to quit the politics into which our BJD has descended.” In January, he was suspended from the party due to his cold war with the Chief Minister.
“Nine months of introspection and widespread consultations w/colleagues & public.Grateful for support received from all over.On auspicious Maha Shivratri I’ve decided to join BJP and work under the leadership of Narendra Modi Ji to serve Odisha & India to the best of my ability,’ Said, Jay Panda.
“I admire Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah’s leadership,” Panda told reporters after he was garlanded at a BJP function in New Delhi to welcome him into the party
