On the second day of the prestigious “Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2024” being hosted at Galgotias University, the Innovation Officer from the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, Govt. of India, Selvarani, interacted with the participants.

A warm welcome was extended to Selvarani, a distinguished professional in her field, whose visit inspired and guided the young innovators participating in this event.

During her visit, Selvarani toured the hackathon venue and reviewed the projects being developed by students. She appreciated their enthusiasm, dedication, and innovative approach to problem-solving.

In an engaging and impactful session with the participants, Selvarani emphasized the following:

1. Encouragement for Creativity: She motivated participants to push the boundaries of their creativity and focus on developing sustainable and impactful solutions.
2. Practical Insights: Drawing from her professional experience, she shared practical tips on turning ideas into implementable solutions, highlighting the importance of teamwork and perseverance.
3. Inspiration for Future Growth: She encouraged students to continuously enhance their skills and emphasized the role of initiatives like SIH in bridging the gap between academia and industry.

Selvarani interacted extensively with students about their projects, asking thought-provoking questions such as: “What problem are you solving, and why do you think it’s important?”

Student Response: “We are addressing issues like water wastage in irrigation. This is crucial because water scarcity is a significant problem in India, and efficient irrigation can save millions of liters of water annually. Our solution aims to optimize resources and increase farmers’ productivity.”

“How does your solution work? Can you explain its key features?”

Student Response: “Our solution is an IoT-based smart irrigation system. It monitors soil moisture levels using sensors and automatically adjusts the water flow. The key features include real-time monitoring, remote access through a mobile app, and predictive analytics for water usage trends.”
