Sanjay Chaturvedi – In an informal interaction with the Journalists of Faridabad the Deputy Commissinor of District Faridabad Dr. Amit Kumar Agrawal, exchanged his views on a number of issues affectiing the day to day life of the people of the district.  The Deputy Commissioner was speaking in a program ‘Press se miliye’ (Meet the press) organised under the banner of City Press Club. The club is a registered society and represents the journalists of the industrial town.

During the discussion on the facilities added to the Surajkund Kraft Mela, stipulated to kick off on 1st February,  the event usually proves to be a chanllenge for the district administration. One of the major facility introduced is to allow people purchase the ticket by ‘Online mode’.  The DC said that these days most of the people use internet on their smart phones. So it is easier for them to purchase the ticket either by way of going to the website of the Surajkund Mela or they use their computers for the same.

Adding to the facility, the officer said, the entry will be allowed on the basis of the sms recived confirming the purchase of ticket. The people is used to this facility as the Railways are already practicing the same. He said this would save large volume of paper and would leade to saving of trees.

Further speaking on other arrangements the DC said that more parking space is being earmarked for the vehicles coming to the fair.  He said that in view of the participation of about 15 countries the district administration is committed to ensure that the guests go back to their countries with a smiling face and sweat memories. He said that the Surajkund road would also be in a commutable stage well before the fair, since it is not possible to complete the same till then. Further adding to the Mela arrangements Dr. Amit said that for the visitors coming by metro buses would be plying from Badarpur station at every 20 minutes of interval.

Discussing on the development works going on in the district Dr Amit Kumar said that the metro work is already in its final stage on which the metro is expected to start plying from May 2015. Six laning of the national highway is also under progress, he added. He also informed that many projects were on hold due to shortage of funds with the Municipal Corporation. However, an amount of Rs.100 crore has been sanctioned by HUDCO. This amount would shortly be released to the corporation making easy for it to continue the development projects. At his own end, he informed, in order to make the process of sanction of small repair works easy the power of  Joint Commissioners has been enhanced to Rs.1,00,000 which earlier used to be only Rs.500. This would help in speeding up the process of updating the pending works.

The Deputy Commissioner expressed concern over the number of public toilets available in the city as well as their condition. He said that the administration is looking at options to outsource the maintainence of the same. On the issue of the cleanliness, he said that the major problem pertains to the ghost employees with the contractor. In order to have all the man at work, the department is planning to enforce biometric system of attendance.  The DC said that he wants the E-Disha Center to be improved and expanded to accommodate more services and more people friendly. Another such center is proposed to come up at Ballabgarh, he informed.

On the revival of Badhkal Lake the DC said that he has proposed to take the help of some professional agency to find out the reasons of the water blockage and the steps needed to revive the lake. This lake, he said is one of the tourist spots giving the city recognition as well as revenue. For Surajkund lake also he suggested that something would be done with the help of some professional agency.

On the matter of encroachment, which is a chronic problem for the industrial town, the DC said ,”we are planning to start the drive for removal of encroachments. Often the problem is of non-availability of police force whenver such drive is initiated. In order to overcome this problem, he added, he has talked to the police commissioner for keeping a separate unit for this purpose only so that whenever needed they can be called.

The Deputy Commissioner Dr. Amit Kumar Agrawal, expressed pitty on the Municipal Corporation of Faridabad for not having a centralised place of opertation in spite of being in existence for so many years. Since the DC is also having an additional charge of the Commissioner MCF, he is planning to allocate some space for construction of building for MCF, large enough to host the operations of all the three offices spread over the city.

On this occasion the DC also called upon the Media to concentrate on big and investigating stories concerning the larger benefit of the society instead of going by the sensational stories.

On this occasion Joint Commissioner MCF Pratap Singh was also present. He was also welcomed by the members of the City press club alongwith the Deputy Commissioner. The DC also assured the members that some space would be allocated for a media center in the city enabling the media people sit, discuss and study on issues they need to .

On this occasion Bijendra Bansal, President City Press club announced that a group insurance scheme is being taken to cover all the members. He said that it is also proposed to take a mediclaim policy covering the members and their family in the same.
