EWS admission posers to 120 private schools

GHAZIABAD: The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) on Tuesday issued fresh notices to 120 private schools in the city seeking details of admissions in various classes under the economically weaker section (EWS) quota. GDA vice-chairman Vijay Yadav had commissioned an inquiry across all zones of Ghaziabad in June to find out if schools were admitting students under the EWS quota. A cell to cater to the needs of EWS students had also been set up under GDA joint secretary Gyanendra Verma.

The GDA had issued notices to the schools on June 10 but several haven`t replied. “Schools have been asked to provide the exact details of the number of students in each class, and the percentage of students from EWS among them. They have also been asked to inform whether or not students admitted under EWS the category are being charged half the fee that general category students pay,” Verma said.
