Greater Noida Authority demands ₹336 crore in dues for handing over Medical Institute

Greater Noida: The Greater Noida authority has started the process of handing over the Government Institute of Medical Sciences to the medical education department of Uttar Pradesh. The authority wants the medical education department to pay a bill of ₹336 crore, the amount it spent on developing, maintaining and buying land for this facility – as part of the handover.

“We have sent a letter to the Government Institute of Medical Sciences to start the handover to the medical education department. Once the department pays the cost of 56.24 acres of land and the money spent on the development of the facility, the authority will hand it over to the department as per procedure,” Deep Chander, Additional Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Noida authority, said.

The Government Institute of Medical Sciences was founded in 2008 as Manyawar Kanshiram Multi-Speciality Hospital. In February 2016, the hospital was renamed. The Government Institute of Medical Sciences is the first government institute to offer a programme in medicine in Gautam Budh Nagar. The institute has 100 MBBS seats at the campus and also provides medical facilities in the city. The 300-bed institute gets around 1,500 patients every day in its out-patient department.

The admission to this residential medical college is done based on NEET scores. The annual fee is around ₹82,000 as per government norms.
