Greater Noida: In a bid to ensure the implementation of Solid Waste Management (SWM) in high rises, the Greater Noida Authority has planned to launch an awareness campaign. The decision has come in a meeting with Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI).

Concerned with failure in implementing waste management in high rises, the authority has conducted a meeting with CREDAI members, mostly whose projects are in Greater Noida area, to discuss on the issue of decentralisation of waste management projects in group housing societies.

Both the authority and the real estate developers gave presentations on the subject. During the discussion, they emphasised on issues such as citizen policy, decentralisation of waste management, construction materials, sewerage and flush etc.

Meanwhile, the authority has asked the operators of malls, hospitals, markets, restaurants, etc to ensure that waste management rules are implemented properly. The authority has set a deadline of July 30 to implement the waste management rules. Builders, who are holding the management in the high rises, have been given a deadline of August for the same.

“We have set a deadline for all units generating waste and directed that if they failed to comply with the direction within given time, the authority will impose fine on them,” said Narendra Bhushan, CEO, Greater Noida Authority.
