Greater Noida  23/8/19:  Weeks after the Supreme Court’s order to put buyers first for the unfinished projects of Amrapali, the Greater Noida Authority has decided to file a review petition to recover the pending land dues from Amrapali, the developer, amounting to Rs 3,700 crore.

The development has come following the Supreme Court’s direction in which the top court asked Noida and Greater Noida Authorities to start registration of flats of the trapped homebuyers, last week.

“The Amrapali group owes GNIDA about Rs 3,700 crore, which is needed for our future development projects and their completion. Therefore, it was decided that a review petition will be filed in the top court, seeking safeguard of the Authority’s financial interests and future existence,” told Narendra Bhooshan, CEO of GNIDA.

The tripartite lease deed will be between the flat owner, authority and the court appointed receiver but not the builder as the top court in its judgment on July 23 had canceled Amrapali group’s license.

Earlier, both the Noida and Greater Noida Authorities told the court that they have formed a special cell to resolve the problems of Amrapali homebuyers.

The meeting that was chaired by UP chief secretary Anup Chandra Pandey also addressed another major issue faced by GNIDA that is the Rs 6,400 cr debt, and means of revenue generation.

“The Authority’s debt is a major concern,” said Pandey. And to address the issue of debt, the Authority will launch two commercial schemes for auction of shops, kiosks, markets, milk booths, petrol pumps, etc.
