I.T.S Engineering College Organizes Workshop on “Lean Start-up and Minimum Viable Product & Business”
Greater Noida, 19 August 2025: The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of ITS Engineering College organized a workshop on “Lean Start-up & Minimum Viable Product & Business” on 19th August 2025. The distinguished resource person for the session was Manveen Singh Chadda, Assistant Vice President-Incubation, Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT), IIT Delhi. The workshop aimed to provide students with deep insights into entrepreneurial frameworks, product validation techniques, and strategies for building sustainable business models.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Mayank Garg, President, IIC-ITSEC and Director of I.T.S Engineering College, who emphasized the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship in today’s competitive world. He highlighted how such workshops equip students with the right tools and mindset to transform ideas into viable ventures.
Chadda’s session provided a comprehensive understanding of the Lean Start-up methodology, which is a modern approach to entrepreneurship focusing on reducing risks, optimizing resources, and accelerating the product development cycle. He explained that the Lean Start-up philosophy is built on three key pillars – Build, Measure, and Learn. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to develop products quickly, test them in the market, gather real-time feedback, and refine the offerings accordingly. This iterative cycle minimizes waste of time and capital while ensuring that products align with customer needs. A major focus of the workshop was the concept of the Minimum Viable Product (MVP). Chadda clarified that an MVP is not the final product but the most basic version that allows entrepreneurs to test their hypotheses, validate demand, and understand customer expectations with minimal investment. By launching an MVP, start-ups can gain valuable insights early in the process, enabling them to pivot or improve their product before scaling. He illustrated this with real-world examples of start-ups that successfully applied the MVP approach to achieve sustainable growth.
The session also explored business model development, stressing the importance of identifying customer segments, defining value propositions, channels, revenue streams, and cost structures. Chadda explained how a lean and flexible business model helps entrepreneurs adapt to market dynamics and customer feedback. Additionally, he highlighted the role of incubation centres, mentorship, and funding opportunities provided by institutions like FITT, IIT Delhi, in supporting young innovators and helping them transform ideas into successful ventures.
The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Rajiv Ranjan, Convener of IIC-ITSEC, who expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the resource person for sharing his expertise and practical insights. He also thanked the faculty, organizing team, and student participants for contributing to the success of the workshop. Dr. Ranjan encouraged students to apply the concepts of Lean Start-up and MVP in their projects and entrepreneurial pursuits, thereby carrying forward the vision of IIC to nurture an entrepreneurial ecosystem on campus.
The workshop was both informative and inspiring, offering participants clarity on how to approach entrepreneurship with a structured, validated, and innovative mindset. It significantly contributed to strengthening the innovation culture at I.T.S Engineering College.
