In Last Six Months, NMRC registers growth of approx 88 Percent in Ridership!

Greater Noida: Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has completed six months of successful operations since it began its journey on 25th January 2019. The 29.7 km long Noida – Greater Noida corridor is also known as the Aqua Line has achieved major milestones in all its spheres, whether it is operations, signaling and telecom, electrical, rolling stock, civil, property business, etc.



In the past six months, NMRC has registered a growth of approximately 88% in ridership. On the first day of operations, the ridership of the Aqua Line was 13, 000 approx. NMRC recorded the highest ridership of 24, 443 on 22 July. The other major achievement was that the frequency was reduced from 10 minutes to 7 minutes 30 seconds during peak hours and 15 minutes to 10 minutes during non-peak hours on weekdays Monday to Friday.

Detailing about the past six month achievements of NMRC P. D. Upadhyay Executive Director Noida Metro Rail Corporation told “We have taken a number of initiatives in the past six months since the commencement of its operations. Rickshaw Service and Construction of a Special Walkway between Sector 51 station of NMRC and Sector 52 station of DMRC. From 10th March 2019, NMRC reduced the fares for Aqua-Line commuters travelling on Sundays and national holidays (26th January, 15th August and 2nd October). On these days the minimum fare remains 10 rupees.”

Further, he told “Under the green initiative NMRC is in the process of installing Rooftop Solar Panels on all its 21 stations including the Depot and power generation through these will help NMRC in saving approx. Rs. 4, 37 crores annually.”

Benefitting commuters NMRC introduced 11 new Feeder Bus Routes to especially cater to all the operational metro stations of the Aqua Line in Noida and Greater Noida. Parking facilities are also available at the max number of metro stations.
