New Delhi, 1st May 2023: The Indian and Chinese government authorities held in-person diplomatic talks in Delhi today, where the stand-off near the Ladakh region was yet again mentioned.
The representatives engaged in a “frank and open manner,” and addressed suggestions for disengagement at the remaining friction points along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), restoring peace and serenity will create circumstances for normalising bilateral ties, and both sides agreed to hold the next round of military discussions as soon as possible.
The Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) organised the meeting.
‘In order to achieve this objective, in accordance with existing bilateral agreements and protocols, they agreed to hold the next (19th) round of Senior Commander’s meeting at an early date,” the MEA stated.
