Greater Noida: Against an order issued by NGT and Pollution Department of Greater Noida for sealing 9 industries under Greater Noida Region today. Indian industries Association , Greater Noida organized a press conference.

In the press conference the association member stated that, this a dictatorial step from NGT side and we demand amendment and relaxation in it. During reviewing a petition filled by an NGO named “Duawa paryavran Samiti” as a comprehensive report on Prevention and Control in River Hindon.

As per the report the quantity of mercury found in the river water is more than the allowed quantity. So NGT had passed an order to seal 124 factories all laying in the hindon region immediately.

Taking action over the NGT orders district pollution control board had ordered to seal nine companies in the Greater Noida Region, companies like New Holland tractors, Yamaha Motors, S.P METALTECH INDIA and many others and issued a show cause notice to 32 Companies as well.

SP Sharma of Indian Industries Association, Greater Noida chapter told that

“industries don’t even given a show cause notice and directly orders of sealing is been handed which is very harsh and unjustified. We demand that industries should given time so that they can balance their discharge if it is containing mercury in heavy amount. Second thing is that all the units cannot be punished for this as all companies don’t discharge mercury.

Further he alleged that “Greater Noida is promoted as the Industrial hub and show window of Uttar Pradesh but the scenario over ground is totally different. Industrial area developed by UPSIDC and GNIDA are still lacking basis infrastructure. Roads are in very bad state , sewage and drains are choked leading the area to turn into pool as rain lashes, no any proper management for garbage disposal. The area don’t have any water supply and NGT keep on issuing show case notices over usages of ground water without taking permission. How this will be possible for any Industry to operate without proper supply of water.

We demand develop proper infrastructure in the region as we are already paying charges for it.”
