NEW DELHI, May 21 – Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) said the  Aam Aadmi Party and Shri Arvind Kejriwal were fully responsible for yet another impending Assembly elections in Delhi. The Congress said Kejriwal’s apology to the people was a drama and in Delhi’s politics, Shri Kejriwal will be remembered only for his opportunism, lies, betrayals and U-turn.

DPCC president Shri Arvinder Singh and chief spokesperson Shri Mukesh Sharma, at a press conference held at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan, making a direct attack on Shri Kejriwal, said in his greed to become the Chief Minister for a second time, he has forsaken the Jan Lokpal isse, on which  he had taken a moralistic stand to tender his resignation to not only betray the people of Delhi, but also insult the people’s mandate. Both the leaders said Shri Kejriwal, in a bid to capture power, was breaking all barriers of rules and decency. They said Kejirwal was fully responsible for the plight of Delhi now, and the people of Delhi would never forgive him for leaving them in the lurch.

Shri Arvinder Singh and Shri Mukesh Sharma made it clear that the power subsidy in Delhi materialized only because of the support extended by the Congress party, and had the Congress party not supported the Aam Aadmi Party in the Delhi Assembly on the power subsidy issue, the 50 per cent subsidy in the electricity bills would not have happened.  They reminded that the BJP had opposed power subsidy  in the Delhi Assembly. The Congress leaders said the dramatic manner in which Shri Kejirwal submitted the resignation of his Government after 49 days in power in Delhi has now been fully understood by the people of Delhi. They said Shri Kejriwal was totally shaken  by the rejection of his party by the people in the Lok Sabha elections.

Shri Arvinder Singh said Kejriwal had informed the Honourable Supreme Court through an affidavit that the Delhi Assembly should be dissolved with immediate effect, and after submitting his resignation too, he had recommended the dissolution of the Delhi Assembly. It was clear from the affidavit submitted in the Supreme Court and the letter submitted to the Lt. Governor yesterday that Shri Kejriwal was not only greedy to assume power, but an aam admi like him had become heady after enjoying Government facilities, and he was now looking for a way out to hung on to power. The Pradesh Congress made it clear that that the Congress party had not sent any official or unofficial message regarding extending support to the Aam Aadmi Party.

Shri Mukesh Sharma said Shri Kejriwal’s name should be changed to “Mr U-turn”, adding that the people of Delhi would not get caught in his trap again.  Shri Arvinder Singh and Shri Mukesh Sharma appealed to the people of Delhi to understand the words and deeds of Shri  Kejriwal, who was greedy to regain power, and support the Congress party in the Delhi Assembly elections for the all-round development of Delhi.

Both the leaders said Shri Kejriwal’s meeting with the Lt. Governor yesterday and the letter he submitted was intended to misguide the people of Delhi, as only the President of India had the power to dissolve the Delhi Assembly, a fact Shri Kejriwal was very well aware of. They said Kejriwal was also aware that he would not be called to form a Government in Delhi without any majority, and despite that, just to get back into power, he had submitted a letter to the Lt. Governor.
