Middle Aged Man arrested for calling Noida ACEO impersonating as Deputy CM

A 35 Year old man who hails from Hardoi and works as a broker was arrested by Noida police after investigating a suspicious call that had come to Noida ACEO R K Mishra. On Thursday afternoon Noida Authority ACEO RK Mishra had received a suspicious call where the caller identified himself as Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya and inquired regarding the tender. The call was made in an attempt to influence the officer for awarding a favourable tender.

The call came on Authority’s official number; however the caller’s queries made ACEO suspect the authenticity of the call. Soon after the Deputy CM’s office was contacted to verify the authenticity of the call, which turned out to be fake.

Following which a complained was made by Authority ACEO RK Mishra to SP City and police sprang into action. Even a normal truecaller search of the number revealed the name of the caller to be Ashok Verma. Police placed the number on surveillance and followed its movement.

On Sunday the caller was arrested by Noida sector 20 police. The man is being probed about his past criminal record and about reason of making such call. He will be produced in the court and will be sent to judicial custody for further investigation.
