Multiple FIR’s after stone pelting in Mahagun society : Police investigating details, DCW records maid’s state

(12/07/2017) Noida : A posh Noida society today turned into a war-field as a mob of hundreds of people created ruckus in its compound. For some time the police personnel were outnumbered by the unruly mob as stones were being pelted even as some police men stood witness. Society residents also allege that instead of controlling the mob or taking action against them, police was asking residents to get inside home for their saftey.
What triggered the situation?
It is being alleged that an illegal Bangladeshi immigrant who works as maid in few flats of the society stole some money from a residents apartment.
The affected family claims that on being confronted she accepted to steal some amount and asked to adjust it in salary, however this cannot be verified independently . The family head than asked her to accompany him to society administration for reporting the incident on which she ran away. The cell phone of the maid was mistakenly left at the residents apartment, which was submitted at society office. Later two police men reached the residents flat accompanied by maid’s husband and inquired about the maid and her cell phone. On being informed of the whole incident police and maid’s husband left the house.
 Stone Pelting and Morning RuckusÂ
As per residents a large number of mob started gathering around society at 6 am in the morning. They started hurling abuses and inciting others. At around 7:15 am the mob was able to break the gates of the society and entered inside. They targeted the flat of the resident who had levied charge of theft. The family which includes husband-wife and kid was cornered in a bathroom for hours after the mob had pelted stone and broken the glass of their building.
SHO has reached the spot after police was informed but they were soon outnumbered by the mob which can clearly be seen pelting stone even in presence of uniformed police personnel’s. Later private security guards and police together came into action to control the ruckus.
Maid’s Version
Maid has claimed that she was beaten by the residents after they alleged her of stealing money. Delhi Commission of Women Chairperson Swati Jai Hind took suo moto cognisance of the incident and sent a team of DCW to record maid’s statement. On insistence of DCW a FIR has also been registered in this regard by Noida police.
Meanwhile, Society residents have also met SP and apprised him of the situation. Another FIR has been registered by the police against unruly mob for pelting stone, disturbing law and order and damaging property.
