No challans for trucks with protruding iron rods

Even as errant bus drivers are being fined by the ‘strict’ traffic police under the new safety drive, trucks carting iron rods drive freely on city arterial roads amidst heavy traffic, dangerously flouting rules.

Open trucks carrying rods were found in big numbers on roads connecting to NH-24 and within Sectors 32A, 25, 36, 4, 75, 76, 112, 113, 114, 115, 116, 117 and 118. When asked why no action has been taken against the defaulters, superintendent of police (traffic) Suneeta Singh blamed lack of provisions to ban entry of trucks
