North Delhi Municipal Councillors Sit on Dharna near Vidhan Sabha Demanding Tabling of IV Delhi Finance Commission’s Report

New Delhi, 24 June.   BJP Councillors in North Delhi Municipal Corporation today sat on a protest dharna near Delhi Vidhan Sabha to demand tabling in the House of the IV Delhi Finance Commission’s report pending since early 2013 with the Delhi government. Hundreds of BJP workers from North DMC area too joined the Councillors.

The dharna was led by Mayor Shri Ravinder Gupta & Leader of the House Shri Yogendra Chandolia, Dy. Mayor Dr. Neelam Goel, Chairman Standing Committee Shri Mohan Bhardwaj and all BJP Councillors joined.

BJP Gen. Secretary Shri Ramesh Bidhuri MP & Leader of the Opposition in Assembly Shri Vijendra Gupta addressed the dharna.

Shri Ramesh Bidhuri said that Delhi government should stop dirty politics of with holding rightful municipal funds just to malign the image of BJP which is in control of the 3 Municipal Corporations.

Shri Vijendra Gupta said that we have submitted a non government member resolution to the Speaker demanding presentation of the IV Delhi Finance Commission’s report in the assembly. He said BJP MLAs will stress for immediate presentation.

Mayor Shri Ravinder Gupta condemned the Delhi government for talking a lot on Swaraj but denying rightful share from the revenue to the municipal bodies. He said that Delhi government is responsible for the breakdown of civic services as first they denied our funds then the CM’s dialogue speech on 8 June  with municipal employees in which he said we will give salary only upto May 2015 for thereafter go to the PM acted as a provocation to employees to continue the strike.

Leader of the House Shri Yogendra Chandolia said CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal speaks a lot on development works through Mohalla Sabhas but how is it possible without funds. He said that June is about to end and we are still awaiting the release of our due funds for the current quarter that was to come in April 2015. Shri Chandolia demanded Delhi government should release funds as per the recommendations of the III Delhi Finance Commission’s recommendations.

Chairman Standing Committee Shri Mohan Bhardwaj demanded that Delhi government should immediately release our funds specially Global Chair Share and release our pending property tax dues on the state govt. owned properties.
