New Delhi, July 26, 2023: A terrifying incident unfolded at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, as a 21-year-old patient allegedly attacked a senior neurosurgeon, Dr. Satnam Singh Chabbra, with a small knife during a consultation meeting in the doctor’s chamber.

The patient, identified as Rajkumar from Bihar, suddenly became agitated and assaulted the doctor with the concealed weapon. Thanks to the swift response of hospital security, a serious injury was averted, and the patient was apprehended and handed over to the police. Dr. Chabbra sustained a minor cut on his thumb in the alarming incident.

The patient had been undergoing treatment under Dr. Chabbra’s care, and on Tuesday, he visited the neurosurgeon for a consultation. However, the meeting took a violent turn when the patient lashed out with the hidden knife.

Authorities at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital acted promptly and initiated action against the patient under the Prevention of Violence against Doctors, Medical Professionals, and Medical Institution Bill, 2018. This law aims to protect medical professionals from such incidents of violence and hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
