New Delhi, July 12, 2023: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to interact with top CEOs, thought leaders, and influencers on July 13 in Paris as part of his day visit to the French capital. During his return journey to India, PM Modi will also make a stopover in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where he will meet President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to further strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations.

While the final list of CEOs, leaders, and influencers is being finalized, the French Republic is eagerly preparing to welcome PM Modi, as President Emmanuel Macron eagerly awaits the visit from his friend and close ally.

The stopover in Abu Dhabi holds significant importance as it aims to reinforce the already strong bilateral relations between India and the UAE. During his visit, PM Modi will meet President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss and enhance various areas of cooperation. Notably, PM Modi had previously visited Egypt during his return journey from the United States, highlighting India’s increased engagement with the Middle East.

India, France, and the UAE are part of a trilateral cooperation initiative announced in September 2022, emphasizing the strong defense bond among the three countries. The UAE played a crucial role by allowing its Airbus 330 tankers to refuel Rafale fighters in mid-air during their journey from France to India amid the peak of the global pandemic.

Last month, India, France, and the UAE conducted their first-ever trilateral naval exercise in the Gulf of Oman, focusing on maritime security and the protection of sea lanes for commercial trade. France, with its permanent base at Al Dhafra, has established close military and political ties with the UAE, ensuring defense against air and missile threats.

While details of the Abu Dhabi leg remain undisclosed, it is expected that PM Modi will spend approximately a day in the UAE on July 15. The two nations, along with the United States and Saudi Arabia, are also exploring joint ventures in developing rail-road networks and other major infrastructure projects in the Middle East.
