Prayas Welfare Society celebrates its 16th Foundation Day

Faridabad: In 16 years, starting from 15 the strength has risen to 7000 and more to go. It’s just a start, says Jagat Madan, president of the NGO that is making its presence felt in Faridabad and around. With most of the industries of the area contributing to the noble cause, the NGO is still marching ahead to reach other milestones, set by itself.

Prayas Welfare Society is a name that is not new to any of the person in Faridabad. It is a non-profit organisation serving the most deprived section of the society with education and the skill to earn their livelihood.

With a vision ‘To empower and provide opportunity to children and women of economically weaker section of the society and make them healthy, literate and skilled citizens of the country’, Founder Chairman Shri M.L Gupta had sown a seed which has now outgrown into a big booming tree and still continuous to grow.

Children at Prayas, with their heart throbbing performances graced the event making it even more special for everyone. The programme proceeded with the distribution of Sewing machines to the women who completed their vocational courses from various centers of Prayas. Winter uniforms were also distributed to approximately 7000 children studying at Prayas Centers.

The society celebrated its 16th Foundation day recently. The honorable Chief Guest for the day was Mr. K.L Bansal (Chairman and Managing Director, DEE Piping Systems). Mr. B.M Mittal from Ramco Steels presided over the function. The President of Prayas, Mr. Madan in his speech mentioned that Prayas in last 16 years has become younger and will keep marching ahead in its zeal to reach out to maximum number of children and individuals to impart free education and life skills. He on behalf of the management expressed gratitude towards the various benevolent individuals and institutions that have been supporting Prayas initiatives. His words worked as an energy booster for each and every individual present at the event and motivated them to continuously work towards the advancement of the Prayas Initiatives.

Prayas Role Model of Society Award 2015 was presented to Mrs. Vimal Chawla and Mr. Jagjit Singh Lamba in honour of their legacy of dedicated service towards the betterment of society. And also Jewel of Prayas Award 2015 was presented to Mr. H.S Banga and Mr. Sajan Jain in recognition of their significant contribution in the society and selfless contribution to Prayas.

With over 85 centers across Delhi NCR and approx. 7000 students, Prayas aims at changing the lives of these children and many more that join them in the upcoming years. As per the Founding Chairman of Prayas Mr. M.L. Gupta it is a constant endeavor from the members of Prayas SWS to serve and educate the children who are the future of our society, thus contributing their bit towards the growth of the society and the nation.

It was an extravagant morning dedicated to a noble cause and entire Team Prayas is thankful from the deepest core of their hearts to all the honored guests whose presence made the event even more special. The event came to an end with the beautiful and meaningful performances by the children studying at Prayas, which filled the heart of each and every individual present at the event with lot of bliss and contentment.

In a press conference prior to the event, a boy introduced himself with the media. He said that he has been taught with skill of mobile repairing at Prayas. After learning the art, he started his own shop in village Mohna and is earning well with this. Another woman, a young widow joined a training of sewing at the Prayas. After completing her training the society also gifted her sewing machine and helped her start her own boutique. Now she is a self dependent lady and is earning well to earn the livelihood for herself and her one child. Jagat Madan, President said that they society is looking forward to start the classes of personality development and English speaking for the students because the students passing out from the school do not feel comfortable at the stage of competition just because they have to compete with the students passing out from public schools and speak fluent English allowing them high level of confidence.

However, Madan said that at present they are incurring about Rs.18 lacs on the facilities and the upkeep of the place. They are managing with the donations coming in till now. However, with the cause they have been continuing for all these 16 years, they expect a help from the government too.
