PV Sindhu starts 2016 BWF Super Series Masters Finals campaign in Dubai with a win
PV Sindhu had a good workout in a 12-21, 21-8, 21-15 win in the league stage of the 2016 BWF Super Series Masters Finals campaign in Dubai. She still has two more matches to be played tomorrow and day after before the semifinal on Saturday. Of course she will have to qualify for the semifinal to be alive in the tournament for the encounter on Saturday.
What was really fascinating was how she came back in this opening match. She lost the first set and that too convincingly. But it was an easy second set followed by a tough third set. It was just the perfect workout before some really important matches ahead.
PV Sindhu will be battling Sun Yu of China and Carolina Marín of Spain in the two remaining league matches tomorrow and day after. It should be fascinating considering both opponents are tough but PV Sindhu has been in fine form and would look to not take a backward step come what may. She is looking to end the year on a high and a win in an important tournament in Dubai will go a long way in making her feel comfortable with her form going into the new calendar year. The fact that this tournament is the final leg of the 2016 BWF Super Series tells you about its importance and one will not be surprised if PV Sindhu is able to go all the way.
The first match we feel has set her up for greater challenges ahead and she seems just in shape to pull off a shock or two. Her battle with the Spanish lady is what we are most looking forward to.
