As most schools have reopened after the summer vacations, the regional transport office of Gautam Budh Nagar has decided to start a three-day inspection drive on Wednesday to ensure safety norms are in place.

The norms have been laid out by the Supreme Court. Officials will check if the bus drivers have at least five years of experience in driving school buses, that drivers and conductors of school buses are at least be Class XII and X graduates respectively, and that “School bus” is clearly written on the back and front of the bus. “The driver should be accompanied by a conductor and an attendant. They should be in uniform,” said an official.
