Sensex surges 1041 points; Bajaj twins soar over 10 per cent each

Mumbai, July 28: The major indexes of the Indian stock market, the Sensex and Nifty, rose by almost 2% on Thursday, driven by a more than 10% increase in the Bajaj twins, Bajaj Finance and Bajaj Finserv.

The S&P BSE Sensex, which comprises 30 stocks, rose sharply to 56,857.79 points, an increase of 1041.47 points or 1.87 percent from its previous day’s finish of 55,816.32 points.

The Sensex climbed to a high of 56,914.22 points during the intraday after beginning the day strongly higher at 56,267.55 points.

The Indian equity markets have rallied for the second day in a row. On Wednesday, the Sensex rose 547.83 points, or 0.99 percent.

The wider Nifty 50 index of the National Stock Exchange rose 287.80 points, or 1.73 percent, to 16,929.60 points, up from 16,641.80 points the previous day.

The Bajaj twins increased by more than 10% each. Bajaj Finance increased 10.68% to Rs 7076.30. Bajaj Finserv rose 10.14% to Rs 14652.30. Bajaj twins have surged after announcing better-than-expected quarterly results.
