Straw burning ban soon to reduce smog in NCR

To avoid formation of smog in Delhi and NCR during winters, a notification banning the practice of burning farm residue has been sent to UP cabinet for approval. The policy has been formulated specifically to stop burning activities on farmlands in western UP, smoke from which is apparently believed to be a major cause behind smog formation in the Delhi-NCR.
