NOIDA (03/01/2022): In a major sign of improvement, Noida climbed up the ladder and bagged the fourth spot in the list of cleanest cities having a population between 100,000 and a million in the Swachh Survekshan 2021. The development has only infused the residents of the city with much enthusiasm who are all praise for Noida Authority and its CEO Ritu Maheshwari for helping achieve this marvelous feat.
Professor Rajesh Sahay, Secretary General, NOFAA, said, “One thing I would like to appreciate about our current CEO, Noida Authority that “Noida looks more Clean & Green now. Mrs. Maheshwari has created a Junoon for Swachhata among the residents of Noida. She is leading from the front – zero tolerance to waste & garbage”.
Another prominent resident of Noida, Ramita Taneja said, “I have been residing in NOIDA from last 16/18 years. In all these years I have seen Noida’s growth both in terms of infrastructure and population. Even the geographical periphery of Noida has had great advancements. However it is only in the recent years that I have seen Noida Authority coming forward to do developmental activities concerning the basic lives of citizens.”
Showering praises at the leadership of Noida Authority, she added, “The authority under the guidance of Ms. Maheshwari is now more approachable and is involved in general public woes, which was missing earlier. Noida has become far greener, cleaner and safer place vis-a-vis its formative years. She has involved the citizen of Noida and taken it as a collective responsibility to make this a world class city. The upgrade of Noida in the ranking in India swachhta mission is a fine example of hard work the Noida Authority is putting.”
Outlining the major changes, she adds, “Noida which had started to become a concrete jungle with just more and more buildings coming up, now witnesses holistic development. The decorated (painted) road sides, plantation, well kept greens, waste segregation, Noida’s own haat and so much more makes a city worth while.”
Rajeshwari Thyagrajan, a resident of Noida sector 1 who has been here in the city for about 30 years says, “In front of us Noida has grown and developed and now it seems near perfect. From officials to residents of the city, everyone has contributed towards growth of Noida. But for last few years there has been a very positive, visible change. But I want that changes and development should happen in villages too.”
NOVRA chief Ranjan Tomar also lauded Noida Authority for their efforts and pointed that positive changes have happened in both rural and urban areas. Sharing his views with Ten News, he said, “City’s improved ranking in Swachch Bharat Abhiyan is a testimony of the efforts being put by Noida Authority officials and residents of the city. In village area too we have witnessed changes. CEO Ritu Maheshwari has fixed her target like Arjun and is doing everything to achieve them. Now garbage is collected from homes everyday, public toilets have been built near villages, sanitation workers have been visiting everyday and even complaints are addressed at a much faster pace.”
Sharing his suggestions for achieving number one ranking in the country, he said, “It has to be a collaborative effort of both citizens and officials. Everyone has to understand their responsibility and make cleanliness an habit. With such efforts we will certainly achieve our goal.”
