I.T.S Engineering College, Electronics and Communications Engineering department(ECE) organized a Guest Lecture on “Impulse Noise Removal from Digital Image in Spatial Domain” by Dr. Umesh Ghanekar, Professor & Head, ECE Dept., NIT, Kurukshetra

Prof. Umesh Ghanekar is the Professor and Head of Electronics and Communication Engineering Department at National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra. Dr. Ghanekar has done his Ph. D. from NIT Kurukshetra and has more than 25 years of experience in academics and research. He is also a member of IEEE and IET. His areas of interest include Communication Engineering and Image Processing. He has supervised numerous B. Tech. and M. Tech. dissertations.

The welcome note was given by Dr. Lokesh Kumar Bansal HOD Electronics and Communication Engineering who mentioned that this lecture would give valuable insight to the field of image and signal processing for the students as well as faculties.

In his talk he briefed the students and faculty about how the quality of digital images has dramatically increased, the quality of digital images is affected by many factors, including one of the most important factor is image noise, if present in any significant quantity, can noticeably degrade image quality. the true image is obscured and image detail is lost. In any case, it is worthwhile to attempt to reduce the noise inherent in digital images. In today’s guest lecture we will have insight to remove noise from digital image in spatial domain.

. The lecture closed with handing Token of gratitude and Vote of Thanks by Mr. Manveen Singh Chadha. This event was organized by Mr. Manveen Singh Chadha, Assistant Professor ECE Department and supported by Ms. Seema Srivastava Assistant Professor ECE Department.

Finally, the HOD-ECE, I.T.S Engineering College congratulated the student volunteers and all the Faculty Members of Electronics and Communications Engineering Department to put in their hard work towards the grand success of the Event.
