TATA Mutual Fund launches 2nd

TATA Mutual Fund has launched the second edition of the Simply Finance Quiz, an intercollegiate quiz competition on finance as part of its investor education initiative.

 

The Delhi quiz was held today, at Institute of Technology and Science, Ghaziabad. 138 teams from 48 colleges participated for the written preliminary round. The top 4 teams that qualified for the finals are Amity Noida, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Institute of Management & Technology Ghaziabad and Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies.

 

It was a well fought quiz with a see-saw battle for first place in the final round, Sourav Ghosh and Prashant Mishra of Institute of Management & Technology Ghaziabad defeated Umang Gupta and Rahul Bammi of Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies on the final question of the quiz. Teo Thomas and Riyasat Ali of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India came third followed by Varun Kalholia and Sreshth Shah of Amity Noida.

 

The winners received a cheque of Rs 50,000. Prizes were given by Sandeep Mathur, Regional head North Tata Asset Management Ltd.

 

Finance is often seen as boring or intimidating. Tata Mutual Fund plans to use the quiz to create greater awareness among the youth about saving, investments and to educate them to develop healthy wealth creation habits from a young age. It will also help youngsters comprehend that while they may not pursue finance as a subject it is very vital for any citizen to be financially savvy.

 

While inaugurating the Simply Finance Quiz,  Arvind Sethi, Managing Director & CEO said, “Investor Education is pre-requisite for one to be able to take educated decisions on personal finance. Through this quiz you will find a thrilling and participative way to learn and share.”

 

He adds, “A person is well poised to take on the challenges of the world only when IQ and EQ meet FQ – Financial Quotient. We believe that if the financial sector has to grow, then people need to be educated about finance. Our single minded focus has always been to make people appreciate the significance of finance in their lives and how they can personally benefit from financial education.”

 

Simply Finance Quiz is an intercollegiate nationwide quiz competition on finance. The quiz will be held across eight cities viz. Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai,

The regional rounds, national semi-finals and the finale will be televised on Zee Business and Zee News. The entire quiz across India will be hosted by Andrew Scolt.

It may be recalled that Tata Mutual Fund created Professor Simply Simple way back in 2006 to simplify terminologies and concepts.
