The Delhi Petrol Dealers Association strongly condemns any proposal to increase VAT on Petrol and Diesel. Delhi is geographically a small state, worldwide economics of small states do not survive on high taxes. Economics of Delhi is different from states like Haryana,Punjab,Uttar Pradesh or for that matter Bihar. Any increase in prices of Petrol and Diesel would fuel inflation invariably. Such a move would make Petrol Pumps of Delhi unviable and would also lead to huge revenue loss of VAT from petroleum products, this would also lead to layoffs of the staff at the petrol pumps inducing recession.

The AAP govt. had assured that VAT would remain lowest in the country, however any move to increase VAT would be contrary to the promises made and would burden the common citizens of Delhi with high inflation.

We would request the Delhi government not to consider any move to increase VAT on Petrol and Diesel to save the trade of petrol pumps of Delhi and also to save the citizens from the ever increasing inflation.
