Noida, (27/5/2019): Two youths were arrested on Saturday evening in Noida for allegedly cheating financial service provider American Express of Rs 3 crore. The arrested youths includes the son of a Haryana Police sub inspector.

The gang would get credit cards issued in Australia with fake documents and use them to shop in jewellery showrooms across NCR. Then they would sell the jewellery to get cash.

Police said, Sunil and Sandeep Beniwal are sons of Surjeet Singh Beniwal, a CID inspector posted in Hisar. Sunil, who is a graphic designer in Australia on a five year student visa would get the credit cards issued in that country after furnishing forged documents and send them to his brother Sandeep Beniwal and his friend Sandeep Kumar. The two then go on a shopping spree mostly in jewellery showrooms and use the credit cards for money transactions.

Noida SP City Sudha Singh said, “at least two more names have come up in the investigation. We have to verify whether they knew about the frauds or were just carriers”.

American Express has alleged this caused them a loss of Rs 3 crore. The arrest followed a complaint by Ashish Madan, Manager in American Express. The duo were arrested from sector 17/16 intersection. Five credit cards of American Express, 10 Aadhaar cards including nine fakes, seven PAN cards, six ATM cards, two mobile phones and a Swift car were recovered from them.
