YEIDA hosts roadshow to showcase investment opportunities in India’s largest Medical Devices Park

Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) organized a roadshow on 2 November 2022 at Hotel Lalit, New Delhi to attract the investment in the upcoming Medical Devices Park, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh of medical devices manufacturing sector, that will provide employment opportunities to around 7000 persons direct and indirect persons.

The roadshow was chaired by Minister, Nand Gopal Gupta ”Nandi”, Industrial Development, Government of Uttar Pradesh and State Minister, Jaswant Singh Saini, Industry Development, Government of Uttar Pradesh in the presence of Dr. GN Singh, Advisor to Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh, Anita Singh. Principal Secretary, Food safety and Drug Administration, Government of Uttar Pradesh and N. Yuvaraj, Joint Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers,
Government of India.

Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) was nominated as the State implementing agency by Government of Uttar Pradesh for the development of Medical Devices Park. The Park is being developed in sector 28, Gautam Buddha Nagar and will be North India’s largest medical devices park, spread over 350 acres of land.

Department of Pharmaceuticals, Government of India accorded final approval on January 2022 to the Government of Uttar Pradesh for the setting of a dedicated Medical Devices Park and providing a grant of Rs 100 crores for the development of common infrastructure facilities to give easy access to standard testing, R&D, development of prototypes, common warehouse, Common Centre of excellence etc. that will reduce the cost of production of medical devices leading to better availability and affordability of Medical in the domestic market.

Dr. Arunvir Singh, CEO of YEIDA informed that the project is moving at a great pace and striving to achieve all the milestones and the work shall be completed within the given time line. He further said that the park will also house head quarter for Export promotion council for Medical Device and will support all the medical device manufacturers in issues pertaining to exports. He mentioned that the park offers distinct advantages to the investors such as strategic locational advantage, seamless connectivity, high quality and reliable power, proactive and accessible administration, largest consumer & labour market, policy incentives, and supporting infrastructure.

The session was addressed by Dr. GN Singh, Advisor to Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh, Anita Singh. Principal Secretary, Food safety and Drug Administration, Government of Uttar Pradesh and N. Yuvaraj, Joint Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India.

Renowned companies such as POCT, Fujifilm, Romsons, Genetix Boitech, Care Digital Medical System Co. Ltd, IITPL, Allied Medical and many more attended the roadshow which shows their keen interest to invest in the Medical Device Park in Uttar Pradesh.

Representatives from Medical Device associations such as AIMED, FICCI, ASSOCHAM attended the roadshow and appreciated the work of YEIDA and incentives given by the State Government.

Speaking on the occasion, Industries Minister Nand Gopal Gupta, Industrial Development, Government of Uttar Pradesh asserted that the UP is one the leading state in ‘Ease of Doing Business’ ranking. Further, he said that the aim is to emerge as one of the leading and globally recognized Medical Devices Manufacturing Hubs by utilizing the existing competitive ecosystem of the State, through dedicated industrial infrastructure development, extension of fiscal and non-fiscal benefits. The minister appreciated YEIDA for their valuable contribution in uplifting the industrial ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh.

The exclusive Greenfield Medical Devices Park with world-class common infrastructure facilities will drive new investment opportunities and growth in order to make India Self-Reliant in the medical devices industry. The Park aims to substitute imports of medical devices by promoting “Make in India, Make in Uttar Pradesh.” The Park will provide world-class common infrastructure facilities at one place reducing the manufacturing cost significantly and helping in creating a robust ecosystem for medical devices manufacturing in the country.

The proposed target segment in the park are, such as Cancer care/ Radiotherapy medical devices, Radiology & Imaging, Anaesthetics and Cardio-Respiratory medical devices, Implantable electronics devices, In Vitro Diagnostics

For attracting the investment State Government is giving incentives in Capital interest subsidy, Air Cargo handling charge and freight incentive, EPF reimbursement, Zero Wate Incentive, Reimbursement of patent filling, quality certification, utility charges, stamp duty exemption and marketing assistance.

The YEIDA has allotted plots to 37 nos. of manufacturers for the manufacturing of different types of Medical Devices such as orthopaedic stents, anaesthesia kit, X-ray, AED, Oxygen Concentrators, ICU ventilator, Anaesthesia workstation, and Anaesthesia Gas Scavenging System. Dignitaries present during the roadshow appreciated the good word did by the YEIDA.
