CAG audit of Authorities starts, last five year tenure to be probed!

Audit of all three Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway Authorities has begun from January 15th. After six month deadline set up by the government of Uttar Pradesh to carry out the audit by Comptroller and Auditor General of India.

A three member committee has been formed for this which and it will conduct the audit and do a detailed probe by personally visiting all the authorities one by one and will go through the details of the income and expenditure of the three authorities across 14 points beginning 2012-13 to present date .Each of the three authorities has assigned a chamber to the probe team.

Officials from all the authorities have been directed to assist the CAG team in every way and help in obtaining all documents required. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an election rally in Ghaziabad last year had openly asked for a CAG audit of development agencies if BJP came to power in the state.
Following the PM’s inclination, Yogi Adityanath, also placed corruption on top of his agenda and in his second cabinet meeting given order for probe by the agency.

According to officials, an audit by the CAG, as provided under article 22 (2) of UP Industrial Area Development Act 1976 should be the starting point to any financial irregularities of the past and make necessary changes to strengthen the points of failure in the financial system of the three authorities
