The much-awaited and equally delayed sector-18 multilevel parking has got another completion date of 30th December. The parking has till point missed 7 deadlines since after the project started in July 2013.

Officials blame the apathy of Construction Company for the delay, which has been penalized over 1 Crore INR till date for the inordinate delays.

Noida Authority project engineer SC Mishra claims that parking is almost 95% complete and only finishing work is pending, which is surely expected to be completed by December, 2017.

The authority has been imposing the delay fine on the contractor since 2015 and the fine value has kept on increasing at regular intervals. Currently a fine of 23,000 Rupees per day is being imposed on the contractor for the delay.

Partial Opening Didn’t Work:

Noida Authority has partially opened the parking for use in May 2015. At that time parking was allowed in two levels, however the arrangement could only continue for few months. In September, 2015 a Noida resident moved to Allahabad High Court, citing construction hazard to close the facility. Allahabad High Court restricted the use of parking till it was under construction and directed the authority to open it for use only when it’s completely constructed. Between September 2015 and Feburary 2016, the construction was also stalled due to pending court appeal.

Parking Fee To Define Feasibility :

As per sources, the financial viability of Multi-Level parking might force the parking charges to be kept on higher side at this parking. However, given that the primary purpose of this project is to ease the load of on-road vehicular-parking in the region, attempts are being made to keep it economic to encourage more and more users to park their vehicles at this facility.

Based on the technical qualification bid a contractor will be finalized soon to run this parking after it is made operational from next year’s beginning.
