Delhi to breathe clean air, rain helps wash away pollutants

New Delhi : On Friday evening mild rainfall brought recipte for Delhites from pollution. During morning hours pollution mark touched sever category with the overall air quality index (AQI) recorded at 407.

Scattered rainfall and gusty winds in the national capital region washed pollutants away, it resulted in a significant drop in the mercury. Now the city is expected to breathe relatively clean over the next few days owing to the impact of light rain over the past 24 hours

According to the Centre-run System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting (SAFAR), Delhi’s overall AQI was recorded at 9 am at 407, counted under the ‘severe’ category.

As per SAFAR, the AQI from 0-50 is considered ‘safe’. Between 51-100 ‘satisfactory’, between 101-200 is ‘moderate’ and 201-300 is ‘poor’, while 301-400 is ‘very poor’ and 401-500 is in the ‘severe’ category.
