New Delhi, 14 May 2022: Speaking to Ten News on Saturday at EPSI’s Indian B-schools Leadership Conclave 2022, EPSI Alternate President Dr H. Chaturvedi listed the pertinent issues that Bschools’ are facing. On NEP he said that although it was announced two years back, b-schools are now looking forward to its implementation. There are certain provisions that are important for B-schools, particularly standalone B-schools which are not affiliated to a university. For example, multidisciplinary, introduction of four-years degree programme and also getting funding for research. So there are certain provisions of NEP that have no clarity and B-schools are very keen to work on those opportunities provided by the NEP 2020. Today a separate session was dedicated to the subject.

Further he said, “Issues related to ranking and accreditation were also discussed and the theme was reimagining the future of Indian b-schools. So this conference has taken a short-term, mid-term and long-term view about the future of Indian B-schools.”

When asked about his thoughts on the need for managers to give back to society which many top delegates advocated for at the Conclave, Dr Chaturvedi said, “Earlier the companies were talking about the purpose to maximise the shareholder’s wealth, but now there are other stakeholders like farmers, consumers, employees, govt, multi-stakeholders that can be served if companies change their purpose.” He also said that the India business education is now training students to couple profit with purpose.

When asked about whether IAS has become outdated and is there a need of a new service – Indian Management Service, Dr Chaturvedi stated that management is not confined to only business but also government services that are lacking professionalism, commitment, integrity and values. “There should be IMS that should be utilised by all state govts and central govt for recruiting their civil servants,” he concluded.
